2008 -  Carol Rio was awarded Best Zabumba Player of the Ilha Grande National Forró Festival, and in 2009, Revelation of Itaúnas National Festival, the biggest Forró Festival in Brazil.

 

2009 - Carol Rio released an album with the band Forró de Ponta with the participation of Trio Virgulino. For ten years, Carol Rio performed with this band as a lead singer and percussionist (zabumba player).

Carol Rio became a lead percussionist at Estação Primeira de Mangueira, the last Samba School to “accept” women on drums. To this day, Carol Rio is the only woman to parade playing the timbal at Avenue Marquês de Sapucaí (Samba Parade Avenue) 

 

2010 - Carol Rio recorded 3 songs produced by maestro João de Aquino.

Carol Rio toured Europe as a staring performer from (April to July 2010) in: England (Ronnie Scotts, Hideaway, Guanabara, City of London Festival - siding the musician Chico Chagas, shared the stage with Simon Mulligan and Davi O'Higgins, toured France (Toulouse, European Capoeira Meeting – Perpingnan), Germany (Laboratorium Jazz Club); Forró de Domingo Festival (Stuttgart, Germany), Scotland (Uniting Against Breast Cancer Festival), Lithuania (Kaunas Jazz Festival), in London at Hideaway, City of London Festival – UK and Casa do Forro London.

 

Carol Rio was a lead performer in the recording of the Official Album of the Samba Schools from the top ensembles - Grupo Especial (2010), recording timbal (the first woman to record by Estação Primeira de Mangueira).  

 

2011 - Carol was nominated as a finalist in ‘Carioca Da Gema - Novos Bambas do Velho Samba’ sponsored by a big brand of beer and promoted by Carioca da Gema - reconized bar in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a lead drummer Carol Rio traveled to Macau and Hong Kong, China (May / Jun 2011)  performing with Beija Flor de Nilópolis Samba School. Carol Rio performed as a lead singer with the Mangueira Samba School on the Lapa Stage for FESTLIP (RJ). 

 

2012 - Carol Rio performed as a lead drummer with Miltinho Edilberto – Voa Viola project when Carol Rio also performed as a lead singer with Jair Rodrigues.

 

Carol became 'musical granddaughter' of one of the most reconized samba artists  - ALMIR GUINETO -  when she start to warm up the stages for his concerts touring per different cities  and always inviting her to sing with him and his band.

 

Carol has performed as a lead sing and percussionist in the cruise “MSC Musica” in Sao Paulo and Santa Catarina in 2012. Also, in SP she has a few other concerts such as Canto da Ema and Remelexo - two of the only places in the world dedicated exclusively for Forro concerts.

 

2013 - Carol was nominated (again!) as a finalist in ‘Carioca Da Gema - Novos Bambas do Velho Samba’ sponsored by a big brand of beer and promoted by Carioca da Gema. 

 

As a lead drummer Carol Rio traveled to Equatorial Guinea (Oct 2013), performing with Beija Flor de Nilópolis Samba School.

 

Carol Rio was the presenter of the “Alma Boemia” program (Rede NGT) 2013/14.

 

Carol Rio was the first woman to record cuíca on the Official Album of Samba Schools on Estação Primeira track

 

2014 - She split the stage with one of the icons of the accordion in the new generation – Mestrinho and her good friend since their teenegerhood.

 

Between February and March and September of 2014, Carol Rio returned twice to Europe, at the invitation of the Norwegian government to give workshops and presentations. Carol Rio performed in the Czech Republic during this same tour (2014, Hoffa Bar).

 

2015 - Carol Rio was a journalist for Radio Roquette Pinto, 94.1 FM  - Programa Encontros.

Between September and October 2015, Carol was invited by the French government to tour “Trem do Samba”- led by Marquinhos de Oswaldo Cruz - with performances in Nice and Lille. (France). Carol performed in this same project, in previous editions in Rio de Janeiro too.

 

2016 - Carol Rio was champion in 2016, playing lead timbal at the drum section with 220 players with Mangueira.

Two more tours in Europe: Festival Forró de Lisboa and Festival Andanças in Portugal, Forró LONDON and a few more stages in London such as Tropicana, Grace Bar, Zoo Bar and Juju's Bar.

 

2017 - Carol returned to Europe and participated in important events and festivals in Portugal - Festival de Forró de Lisboa, Festival O Baião Vai, Festival Forró Mania - Torres Vedras, and fixed events in the capital and Porto. France (Favela Chic and Bar Canal 8 in Paris), Festival “Vamo que Vamo” in Lille , Forro do Gonzagao 2^st edition in Marseille; in Germany at Festival Forró do Miudinho in Berlin and Festival Forrozin Freiburg; Holland (Espaço Juliana Braga and Melkweg  where Carol Rio gave a Brazilian music workshop in the capital Amsterdam and in Groningen), Sweden (Stockholm) and Zurich in Switzerland at Forró de Dois. England (Festival Forró London, Festival de Forró UK and in the weekly events: Juju's Bar, Forró Family, Tia Maria Music Stage, Made in Brasil and concerts in Birmingham (UK).

 

Carol was invited to the TV Show “Samba na Gamboa” on TVE BRASIL presented by the famous samba singer Diogo Nogueira (2017/18)

 

2018 -  Between January and February Carol Rio was invited by the group Forró Raiz to be Musical Direction of Bloco Baião de Rua - the largest “drums of Forró” in the world (about 100 members) that took more than 40 thousand people marching the streets in the Carnival of Belo Horizonte (MG)

 

In March, Carol Rio released the album “Samba + Forró” at the João Nogueira Cultural Center (Imperator - RJ), that’s results in the Europe 2018 tour at the main festivals such as Pé na Terra in the Algarve (Portugal), Festival de Pifes de Garrone with Carlos Malta and Forro do Gonzagao 3rd edition (both in France); Festival Forró Camp (Germany), Forró Dam (Amsterdam, Netherland), Teatro Munganga and regular events in London.

 

In London (UK) Carol Rio performed at Juju's Bar,  Floripa and regular events for Forro Foundation, Forró Family, Tia Maria Music & Stage also in Hove (UK) at the Brazilian Arts Society and in France more concerts monthly on Favela CHIC, One More, Cafe de La Plage, Bar Canal 8, and Punk Paradise  (Paris).

 

2019 - Carol Rio make a tour becoming again a starring guest in Portugal, at Viva o Samba project, at Forró de Quarta and another edition of the Pé na Terra Festival plus presentations in Paris and London.

 

The program ‘Jornal Hoje’ (TV Globo) has been in her monthly samba party in London to make a reportage about the ‘Samba de Raiz UK’ - samba in the British capital where she sing and play percussion.

 

During this year she has played In France: Bar Canal 8, Forro de Quinta and Bizart in Paris;  at Festival Dine Dine in Lille, Festival de Forró de Bordeaux and Forro do Gonzagao 3^nd edition in Marseille and on summer editions at Hotel d’Amour with the samba group ‘Tamo Junto’ in Nice, Cote D’Azur – French Riviera; in addition the Festival Ai Que Bom and at Café Caramulo on the event ‘Tardezinha’ playing samba and forro in the capital of Belgium – Brussels; in Switzerland she payed at Festival de Forró Vem Vem (Weggis) and twice in the event ‘Quintal da Alegria’ (in Basel and Bern). Carol Rio sang at Roda de Samba do Alemão in Colônia (Germany) and still participating in the monthly project Samba de Raiz UK in Notting Hill, London. She has played in ‘Brazilian Experience’ in Portobello Road (at Aklam Village) and few other regular events  in the british capital.

 

Carol Rio opened and sang along with Xande de Pilares in Switzerland (Basel) and Paris, France (Brasil Tropical) in a tour of the ex-singer of the group Revelação through Europe.

 

In December, Carol Rio recorde a music video in Paris, France with ex-accordionist of Trio Nordestino – Beto Sousa – song “O Amor eu Encontrei” (Beto Sousa and Antônio Ceará).

 

Carol Rio participated in the Itaúnas Summer Festival(ES) on the “New Year” 2019 to 2020 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the 2009 FENFIT Revelation title.

 

2020 - She recorded the video ‘SAMBA DIFERENTE’ in London featuring the rapper DUGHETTU and release in a party in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The track has been produced by the lead conductor Jorge Cardoso.

 

Carol Rio was the Music Director of the Bloco Folioes Unidos de Paris. The group participated in events in the French capital, such as Fete de La Music, and has performed again in a few stages in Paris such as Mineirinho Bar.

 

2021 -  Carol Rio was a guest special in Brasil Summer Fest 21 and 2022 editions as a volunteer participant. Carol Rio was a guest special for both years in  Brooklyn, NY (USA)). 

 

2022 - In February Carol released a new song and video with Helio Bentes, leader of Ponto de Equilibrio (a recognized Brazilian Reggae band). The track was produced by bassist and music producer André Vasconcellos and co-produced by Wilkis Figuereo - ITEC Audio Studios ( USA). The video clip is available on all major platforms and on her youtube channel.

 

Carol Rio continues to perform in 2022 as a lead singer and percussionist in Europe with concerts in Lisbon, Portugal and in the British capital where Carol Rio has resided since 2017 like Jujus Bar,  Made In Brasil in the iconic Camden Town, Tia Maria Bar and Stage  - places where she is part of the casting.  Carol was also invited to sing at Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee in June 2022 with the project Rhythms of The City.  In August, she participate in one more edition of Notting Hill Carnaval playing timbal as a lead percussionist in front of the drummers with ‘Tribo Band’ that invited Carlinhos Brown.
